If you’ve heard the news on what’s happening in Jakarta right now, you would find out that everything seems to be overwhelming.

In addition to the pandemic that we all have been enduring, there are some parts of Jakarta that is inundated, forcing hundreds (if not) thousands of people to evacuate as I am writing this.

It is quite ironic that in a time when we need to gather around for encouragement and help, we should also be apart of each other.

It feels like the current situation is giving us permission to feel lonely and helpless.

I can only imagine what it feels like for them, all the patients that are being isolated from their family, all the medical workers who have been in the hospital for too long to be home, and all the people who have to be evacuated.

While some people are sick of being home during quarantine, there are people who are longing to be home and would do anything to be home again.

All this will not end well, if we only think about ourselves.
These are the things that we can do to show love and support for each other.

Stay home as long as we could, even though it gets boring after some time.
Put on masks every day, even though it can be uncomfortable.
Donate for those who are in need, even though it can be challenging, especially at times like this.

Only when we start putting our own battles aside for a moment and unite to fight the bigger battle will we come out victorious sooner than we think.
